The Istituto di Moda Burgo was founded in 1961 by publisher Fernando Burgo, a visionary with a deep passion for fashion. With over 60 years of experience in the fashion industry, Mr. Burgo has dedicated his life to education, innovation, and the promotion of Italian excellence worldwide.
His mission has always been to share his extensive knowledge with aspiring designers from across the globe. Under his guidance, students not only learn the technical and creative aspects of fashion, but also gain direct access to the professional world through internships, collaborations, and industry partnerships.

Sonat Yavuzkal’s passion for fashion began at a very young age and has been shaped by more than 15 years of experience in brand management, fashion education, and merchandising. She graduated from Istituto di Moda Burgo in Italy and has also attended a wide range of programs at leading universities in Türkiye and abroad, earning numerous certificates. A pianist since the age of 6, she is a part-time conservatory graduate. With a grandmother who was a skilled seamstress, Yavuzkal grew up in a family of both artists and fashion professionals. This expertise and dedication caught the attention of Fernando Burgo, founder of Istituto di Moda Burgo, who personally selected her to lead the Institute’s campus in Türkiye.
Sonat Yavuzkal, Director of Burgo Istanbul, has a mission to discover new and original talents. This mission is carried out through the “Burgo Method”, which focuses on one-to-one attention for each student and maintains the highest level of quality through limited class sizes.
Under her leadership, our school ensures that students can both freely express their creativity and acquire the technical skills required to enter the fashion industry.

The manual includes 400 pages with 210 drawings and 195 sketches, covering womenswear, menswear, childrenswear, lingerie, swimwear, footwear, jewelry, and accessories. Starting from the human figure and its movement, the book carefully analyzes all aspects of the face and body.
It also presents the main techniques of coloring and rendering, along with a section dedicated to technical drawings—essential for developing a complete fashion collection. The text concludes with a history of both early and contemporary fashion, from ancient Egyptian civilization to the most influential designers of the twentieth century.
